Contemporary Garden Studios
What are they? We are dividing out homes by function more and more as our lives become increasingly compartmentalised. Even modest homes now are split in to dining rooms, living rooms, breakfast rooms, family rooms, laundry rooms, kitchens and various others. There are even more gymnasiums, libraries, games rooms and bars in bigger homes as well. Following advances in technology and changes in what people want out of life, there has been an increasing demand for ultra modern structures. Apropos commissioned Atelier to step up to the next level in construction and design of extremely efficient garden office buildings, garden studios and house extensions as viable alternatives to current architectural typologies such as home conservatories and garden rooms.
Contemporary Garden Buildings
The Vision: Atelier wanted to make something out of the ordinary. They wanted to make something better. They through out all their preconceptions about these kind of garden rooms and started fresh. They wanted to make something that was stylish, functional, flexible, sustainable and future proofed. State of the art digital tools were used such as energy analysis tools, prototyping machines and structural analysis programmes to begin with a sketch and end up with something beautiful. All that is needed is a basic curved line to get started. From hidden drainage, hidden fixtures, and unsupported cantilevers - Atelier make things better. For this jobs, timber is definitely the best material to use. It has such environmental benefits over other materials and all the performance advantages of steel and concrete due to modern technological developments. The beauty and style of real timber placed with clear shining glass leads to the ultimate contemporary timber garden building experience. All other materials and hardware is selected to fit in with these idealistic designs for a truly superior garden room product.
Timber Garden Building
The Solution: A range of different contemporary garden buildings have been created by Atelier. They are different in size and levels of adaptability and are a subtle task to mix aesthetics with function, natural materials with top technology whilst bearing in mind any effects there will be on the surroundings. The system is modular and therefore can facilitate a large variety both functional and desirable requirements. Each structure can be configured uniquely to express exactly what individual users would like. The spaces give a feeling a fluidity with very glazed fronts that open up interiors to the outside and remove intrusions on nature and the surroundings. Atelier garden rooms give flexibility, portability and compact spaciousness. They can be included in large open garden spaces or in urban plots as they combine a wide range of needs. They optimise all essential functions into a compact space.
Atelier are pleased to announce the official launch of their timber garden studios in Hong Kong. The venture is a result of a collaboration between Atelier and Hong Kong business man, David Bojan. A link to the new Hong Kong website is above, and it is due to launch fully in late 2011.
Atelier was pleased to be back at the Grand Designs Live again at Birmingham's NEC. The prestigious exhibition was another great success for Atelier, who were pleased to share a stand with their sister company Apropos Tectonic.
