Planning
Ordinarily the Atelier garden studio will not require planning permission provided it is situated no closer than 2 metres from the boundary of your property. However exceptions to this can arise if your property is situated within a conservation area or is listed. Should planning permission be required Atelier can undertake the application on your behalf if you so wish.
Fabrication
Requiring minimal site finishing all elements of Atelier buildings are precision engineered in a controlled factory environment allowing a speedy and accurate installation.
All parts are checked prior to shipping to ensure that the installation runs as smoothly as possible.
Building works
All associated building works and the required electrical supply are to be completed by others prior to the installation of your Atelier garden studio, including the foundation work.
Installation
Following the installation of the foundation system the kit of parts needed for your structure will be delivered. All of this will be in accordance with the schedule agreed with you shortly after the placement of your order.
The main structure uses engineered timber and SIPS panels to their best abilities creating a self locating skeleton that is longitudinally and latitudinally stable and requires minimal mechanical fixings.
With the main structure assembled the frameless glazing system and folding sliding doors can be expertly installed.
The structure is then wrapped in a combination of EPDM and breather membranes to keep the building dry and healthy.
Where interior laminate panels have been specified panel frames will then be installed along with the Oak flooring and all interior fixtures and fittings.
The final stage will be to dress the exterior. Pre-assembled, FSC certified, open joint boarded timber cladding panels are hidden fixed to every visible face of the structure (including the roof where specified) protecting the structure whilst also allowing it to breathe. Custom machined hardwood cill profiles and specially crafted Aluminium fascia boards complete the building ahead of the final inspection by the client.
A typical structure should take around 2 to 3 weeks to complete on site.
Electrics
Electrical work outside the studio (i.e. from the studio to the house) plus the second fix to be completed by others.
Plumbing
Plumbing works inside your Atelier structure will be completed off site. Connection to the plumbing system of the house will be completed by others.
