Open joint boarded cladding panels

The exterior cladding consists of open joint boarded panels with a choice of one of the following timbers:
  • Thermowood (heat treated Scandinavian Redwood) felled from FSC accredited forests. Thermal modification improves durability and stability of the timber meaning that no treatment is needed. Uncoated timber cladding should last for 25 – 35 years.
  • Western Red Cedar felled from sustainable FSC accredited forests. This durable timber requires no treatment and has an expected service life of 40 – 60 years. The timber does not need treating but it can be oiled to preserve it’s natural colour.
  • European Oak felled from FSC managed sources. Expected service life 40 – 60 years.

Decking
Open joint boarded Yellow Balau decking is offered as standard. Yellow Balau is commonly used for decking due to its excellent performance, low maintenance, natural beauty and long life span. in this application.

Aluminium fascia

Hand crafted from aluminium sheet to precise tolerances and powder coated to your choice of RAL colours.

Double glazing
Dual sealed, double glazed insulated units compliant to BS EN 1297 with the following configuration:

Outer pane:     6mm toughened float
Cavity:            16mm Argon gas filled
Inner pane:      6mm toughened Float glass coated with S3 Natural Low E
Centre Pane:   1.10 Watts /m2

Standard double glazing units only use 4mm glass; by increasing this depth to 6mm it allows us to achieved some large spans of glass with exceptional width to height ratios as seen around the top of our structures. An added bonus of thicker glass is better insulation properties for both heat and sound.

Bifold doors

A 3 leaf folding sliding door set is installed to the front elevation of the C1, C3, C4, S1, S3 and S4 - 2 sets are fitted to the C5, C6, S5 and S6. The C2 and S2 house a corner configuration of folding sliding doors, 2 doors on each elevation.

The doors are manufactured by apropos from thermally broken aluminium and are then polyester coated in Atelier RAL range to match the fascia. At 100mm the doors have some of the
thinnest sightlines available whilst simultaneously achieving incredibly low centre pane U values (1.6 W/m2K).

Glazing specification:
Outer pane:     4mm toughened float
Cavity:            16mm Argon gas filled
Spacer:           Edgetech "super spacer"
Inner pane:      4mm Saint Gobain Planitherm Ultra N

Using a “rolled thermal break” in the aluminium sections slows down the transmission of heat by the insertion of an extruded polyamide section during the manufacture of aluminium section. This improves improving the overall thermal performance of the building. This involves the joining of two parent aluminium extrusions by the mechanical insertion of extruded polyamide strips in order to form a single complete thermally broken assembly.

Doors stack externally and to the left to maximise internal space.

Parallel opening windows

Parallel opening windows are offered as an alternative to the conventional open out windows. These can be manually or electrically operated (electric motor option is mandatory for the 2m by 2m window).

The windows are manufactured in line with the performance requirements set down by the PassivHaus Institute in Germany and the upper levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

U-Values of 0.8Watts/m2K (for the glass and frame combined not just the centre pane) with solar heat gains of over 50% are achievable
